AI built by academics for academics.

Find new evidence, review each edit, and trace your claims to scholarly sources.

One claim, followed to its source

From a draft to the exact passage

Retrieve the papers, through your own library. Athena fetches open-access copies first, then goes through your institution. You sign in yourself, once. Each PDF is checked against the work it should be.

Built so you can check its work

Your sources remain inspectable.

Every source Athena relies on sits in your Library with its PDF, so you can open it and read it yourself.

Your edits remain reviewable.

Athena suggests; you decide. Her suggested edits appear in your text with Accept and Reject, and any change can be undone.

Your citations lead to the exact passage.

A citation keeps the page and passage it came from, so you can follow any claim back to its source.

How your work is handled

Unpublished work deserves care. Here is what happens to it.

Where your work is kept

On your computer. Akademeia is a desktop app: your drafts, notes and Library are stored locally, not on our servers.

Training

Akademeia does not train AI models on your work.

What Athena sees

Only what your request needs. She reads your manuscript through narrow tools, a passage at a time, rather than receiving your whole draft with every message.

Your library login

You sign in to your institution yourself, in a browser window inside the app. Akademeia never asks for, sees or stores your password, and your library session stays on your computer.

Retrieved PDFs

Papers you retrieve are saved to your own Library on your computer. We don't keep copies.

Your sign-up

We keep your email and, if you give it, your institution, only to tell you when Akademeia is ready. Write to [email protected] to be removed.
